This is What Happens When You Watch Porn: Dehumanizing & Social Anxiety

One symptom that is highly prevalent amongst avid porn users is social anxiety.

From what I have seen in my practice, somehow excess porn use causes a rewiring of the brain that makes distinguishing between real people and pixelated people difficult.

These users begin to dehumanize the world around them which often results in anxiety and paranoia, especially in social situations.

This can be seen in the avoidance of public places as well as disconnection from peer groups and social gatherings.

And when around humans, users are detached from any empathy that might connect them or create bonds.

Brains that have healed from Novelty Addiction often find that they can once again “see” people and can connect on a level that they never could while consuming porn.

They are able to maintain eye contact and feel comfortable seeing the depths of people with the desire to connect and love.
